Workforce latest, Old Roan Chase News & Doncaster Sprint Hcap Value

Connections of the Derby and Arc winner Workforce will decide this weekend whether or not to let their star colt travel to America for the Breeders’ Cup. Presumably slightly weary of being asked the same question, Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, is quoted as saying "There's no news about Workforce. There will be a decision over the weekend.”

In the opening televised race at Doncaster in the 2.55, there are a couple that appeal at big prices. Topweight Masta Plasta looks very well treated despite topweight and appears to be well drawn. If the rain arrives, then Judge n Jury is thrown in on his victory in this 2-years ago and can leave a disappointing run behind.

As the flat season draws to a close, the jumping action is starting to move up a gear and Aintree hosts the Old Roan Chase at 3.25. Albertas Run returns to the track following his Cheltenham and Aintree victories last spring but trainer Jonjo O’Neil has warned;

"He's ready for a spin, although he's obviously not 100% and will come on for the run.

Crowd favourite Monet’s Garden is a superb jumper who goes well fresh and has won this race twice before. Everything looks in the 12-y-o’s favour again, although age will start to take a toll at some point.

Poquelin and Tartak are also live contenders and although the former is harshly handicapped on the face of it, I suspect he will go very well. Tartak is reportedly quite fit and he is potentially very well in if able to do himself justice so he gets the nod in a race to savour.

Recommendation: 1.55 Donc - Masta Plasta & Judge n Jury, 3.25 Aintree - Tartak
