Henry Cecil’s popular and decorated 6-y-o TWICE OVER steps down in class to contest the Group 2 Sky Bet York Stakes on Saturday over 10f and the bookmakers have installed him as the early favourite. Class is on his side but it has to be said that the entire has run three consecutive disappointing races and that does weigh a bit heavy. Teddy Grimthorpe, speaking on behalf of the owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, told the press;
"We were a little disappointed at Ascot, we thought Twice Over would run a lot better than he did. He has come out of the race fine and he has been training really well and enthusiastically, so we thought a little drop down in grade would be a confidence booster. There are never any gimmies in this game and there are some good horses in there, but we hope that the Sky Bet York Stakes will set up nicely for him."
Ransom Note would be my idea of the danger but trainer Barry Hills is not having a good month by his high standards. Even so, at 12/1 I think he is also worth an interest
