Spain the obvious choice to win World Cup Group I

Current World Cup holders Spain have been installed as warm favourites to land Group I with Paddy Power's quote of 1.33 currently the best on offer, while the enigmatic French team are a best priced 3.50 with several bookmakers to cause an upset.

Let's start with France whose performance at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa was nothing short of disgraceful. Competing in a group that consisted of Uruguay, Mexico and South Africa the French were hot favourites to progress to the knock-out stage, yet managed only one draw and two defeats and finished bottom.

Following France's World Cup debacle coach Raymond Domenech was relieved of his duties and Laurent Blanc placed in charge. It's clearly too early to say that France's past problems are now behind them, but early signs have been encouraging, with Friendly wins over both Brazil and England just two results that will make their rivals sit up and take notice.

At the time of writing Les Bleus also sit top of Euro 2012 qualifying Group D with four wins and a draw from their last five matches, more proof that they are moving in the right direction. Any side that can boast the talents of Patrice Evra, Samir Nasri, Florent Malouda, Karim Benzema and Frank Ribery should always be feared and they may just give Spain a few uncomfortable moments during the sides two fixtures.

What can you say about Spain that hasn't already been said? Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010 winners, they have immense talent running right through their squad. Players such as David Silva, Juan Mata, Cesc Fabregas and Fernando Torres rarely figure among the first XI such is their strength in depth.

Waiting for some of the bookmakers special bets is probably the best option in Group I, but if you have an opinion just one click on the bookmakers links will take you directly to their website.
