Socieded unlikely to have any answers to rampant Real!

Real Sociedad have just eight points on the board from nine La Liga matches this season, and while Philippe Montanier’s men have lost just one of their last eight in the league in San Sebastian, they will have their work cut out against a Real Madrid side seeking their sixth consecutive victory in Spanish top-flight fixtures this evening.

Los Blancos are firing on all cylinders at present, and between them Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain have contributed 19 goals already in the Primera Division, an impressive haul with just nine games played. No surprise, then, the visitors are as short as 1.18 in the full time result market, odds which are justified.

While the prowess of Los Merengues in front of goal is highly impressive, they’re also rock-solid at the back, conceding just once in their last five matches overall, and their midweek beating of Villarreal. Sociedad, on the other hand, have scored just four in their last five, so all in all the omens do not look good for the home side.

Indeed, Jose Mourinho’s charges have the bit firmly between their teeth as they bid to usurp Barcelona in La Liga, something which the hierarchy at the club would probably value more than a Champions League triumph this season. Given the strength of the squad the Portuguese has at his disposal, Madrid look poised to challenge on all fronts anyway.

As recommended against Villarreal in midweek, the 11-10 on offer about the visitors winning to nil is again appealing this evening – while some may not deem such odds value, I just can’t see Real’s defence being infiltrated by the home side, and find it equally difficult to envisage Mourinho’s men failing to score, so the 11-10 is worth a decent wager to my mind.

Recommendation: Real Madrid to win to nil @ 11-10 (Ladbrokes)
