KIAMA BAY looks set to add to an impressive run of form that reads either first or second in 10 of his last 11 outings. In what is an incredible run of consistent form, another first or second place today would be yet another tasty pay day for connections
23 runners go to post to battle it out for some £40k in prize money. Willing Foe from Godolphin, trained by Saeed Bin Suroor sits at the top of the market. Disappointingly unplaced in the race last year after a hat trick of wins, he has been seen just once this term, running an encouraging fourth position at Newbury over 10f in a very obvious preparatory race for this. Lightly raced, he is open to improvement and receives every respect.
Kiama Bay is the preferred however. Favourites have a very poor record in this event. Conditions are perfect for John Quinn's charge. He has raced only twice an won twice on soft ground, he has won three and placed four times from the seven outings he has had at the trip. Add in his preference for a level left handed track and we can see that he has it all in his favour.
Other runners that will be getting involved could be Pekan Star from Roger Varian. Always marked out as one to watch, he has been gelded since his latest run in August when he disappointed at Newmarket. Zuider Zee is in a position whereby his handicap mark has been rising even though he has not been winning. His chance may have gone but he is still a good each way option. Samson's Son will have no problem with underfoot conditions today but is up 7lbs for his latest win and Mark Johnstone has his 3yo filly Oceanway not far behind Willing Foe at Newbury last time.
