Nadal vs Federer – ATP World Tour Final

The ATP World Tour Finals at the London O2 Arena have certainly provided the fans with plenty of entertainment and Rafael Nadal’s epic 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 7-6 (8-6) semi-final victory over Andy Murray yesterday has to go down as the greatest match in the history of the tournament.

By Contrast, Roger Federer had it relatively easy against Novak Djokovic in their semi, winning 6-1, 6-4.

Sunday afternoon’s final is therefore made up of Nadal and Federer and no-one could argue that is not something to look forward to. The pair have only met once this year, in the Madrid Masters which Nadal won and Federer told the press yesterday;

"I'm really happy to play so well against a player who's had a great season. I'm really enjoying myself and I hope I can produce something good tomorrow."

Nadal would have needed quite a bit of reflection after what the Spaniard himself described as “one of the finest matches of my career.” and one could question whether this will come soon enough, given the length of time spent on court 24-hours earlier. Still, Nadal is a true athlete and I wouldn’t feel comfortable in using that alone as an excuse to back Federer. It must be a factor though and as Federer had a stroll yesterday, I am going to side with the Swiss player to come out on top although it is a tough call.
