Morning Moment cracking value at around 7-1 in Doncaster chase

All eyes will be affixed to Cheltenham on Saturday, but the best bet of the day is at Doncaster in the Bet Mobile At Victor Chandler Handicap Chase (3.20), with the lightly-weighted MORNING MOMENT outstanding value at around the 7-1 mark.

The nine-year-old has few miles on the clock for a horse of his age, having had just seven starts, but he’s proved that he can mix it in competitive staying handicaps the last twice, scoring over 3m at Haydock in October prior to chasing home Neptune Equester in a pretty valuable 3½m contest at the same track.

Caroline Bailey’s charge has been nudged up 5lb for that effort, but he finished nicely clear of the rest that day, and the fact that he saw that marathon trip out pretty well augurs favourably with emphasis likely to be on stamina at Town Moor this weekend, with conditions on the easy side.

In addition, carrying just 10st will be a major advantage, whereas the front two in the market, Benny Be Good and Tullamore Dew, have 11st 12lb and 11st 1lb to lump respectively. Of that duo, the latter looks the more dangerous, as he will find this company less taxing than in the Paddy Power Gold Cup and the Hennessy in his last two starts.

Nicky Henderson has his string in fine fettle, so Bai Zhu has to be taken seriously, while another stable firing on all cylinders is that of Emma Lavelle. The Wildhern handler fields Qianshan Leader who returned to form when scoring at Kempton last month, and a 4lb rise for that performance doesn’t look prohibitive, albeit this is a tougher race.
