Reigning Serie A champions AC Milan could leapfrog Juventus and Udinese, albeit potentially only temporarily, by beating Siena on Saturday evening, and it will be something of a shock should Massimiliano Allegri’s side fail to do so.
The Rossoneri have yet to be beaten in the league at the San Siro this season, and they’re currently on a run of nine unbeaten Scudetto matches overall, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic looking sharp – he’s currently the third highest scorer in the Italian top-flight with nine goals.
The Milanese outfit dropped valuable points when drawing 2-2 with Bologna in their latest fixture on Sunday, but generally they’ve acquitted themselves extremely well this term, despite having plenty of injury problems to contend with, pretty much since the start of the 2011/12 campaign.
It’s not surprising to learn that the Diavolo have reportedly made a move – and subsequently reached advanced stages of negotiations – to bring want-away striker Carlos Tevez to the Giuseppe Meazza, with Antonio Cassano out for the season, and Alexandre Pato and Robinho struggling for full fitness. Securing the Argentinean’s services, even if on a loan basis, would be a major coup.
Only two sides have scored fewer goals than Siena so far this season, and the Bianconeri have lost four of their last five Serie A matches, leaving the, perilously close to the foot of the table, currently in seventeenth place. That situation is likely to be even worse after this match, and I reckon Ibracadabra will prove too much of a handful for a defence that has shipped as many goals as they've scored during the current campaign. Indeed, at 3-1 with Paddy Power the Swede rates a solid bet to open the scoring in a game that I expect the home side to win comfortably.
