There were amazing scenes on Betfair yesterday as one punter left themselves open to a potential £23m payout on Voler De Vadette at Leopardstown.
A three hour investigation was launched after an in running lay was placed on the favourite at odds of 29 as he crossed the line. Over £1.5m was matched at the price as he won by four and a half lengths. The lay of £21.3m, had it all been matched would have resulted in a £600m payout.

12.10 Lingfield – Every race has a winner and although Adjaad and Pipers Piping are best in at the weights, there is a reason to take them on with QUERIDO. The logic being that Nathan Alison is 5-44 riding at Lingfield whilst his rivals are 0-62 collectively. A tenuous argument, perhaps, but finding the non-obvious clues is sometimes a good strategy.

SHARP SHOES looks a decent bet to land some shopping money in the 5f handicap at Southwell on Thursday (12.30). A winner of 5-races, the 4-y-o has had just 3 runs here on this surface, a trio of consecutive runs at the turn of the year yielding form figures of 245. 7 lb lower now but has been second in two of his last six so not exactly out of form. I was luck enough to have been behind TANKS FOR THAT ahead of his win on the Old Course here last month and the ease in which he demolished his 16-rivals was notable. LUCKY DAN clearly found the 5f too sharp last time when finishing well and I am hopeful of a good showing from the 5-y-o back over 6f in the 7.00 at Wolves. Although he has a modest win record, three of his four victories have come under Franny Norton and he was successful off a similar mark in January over course and distance.
