England should ensure qualification to the Euro 2012 finals on Friday evening when they visit Montenegro in a game being televised live on Sky Sports One. England require just a point in Podgorica to top Group G and qualify for the final stages, although with a six point lead over their nearest rivals and a superior goal difference even defeat is most unlikely to stop them heading to Poland and the Ukraine in 2012.
So impressive has Phil Jones start been at Manchester United that the youngster could be pushing for a starting place at centre-back alongside John Terry, while another player to have recently switched clubs, Scott Parker, also looks likely to start, after not only impressing for England, but also new club Tottenham. Fabio Capello may also be tempted into giving other fringe players such as Phil Jagielka and Bobby Zamora a rare starting place.
Montenegro have more defensive options for the visit of England with Marko Basa, Milan Jovanovic, Miodrag Dzudovic and Savo Pavicevic all available after missing the game against Wales.
Montenegro have only conceded one goal in their three home matches to date and also secured a goalless draw when visiting Wembley for the reverse fixture back in October last year. A point may be enough for them to secure a play-off spot by finishing second in the group so this could well prove a tight affair. Under 2 ½ goals looks a good bet to me at odds of 1.73 with Victor Chandler.
