Reality Show shaped well on debut at Newmarket and was sent off favourite upped to this trip at Haydock subsequently, but couldn’t live with Mataaleb, beaten five lengths by that rival. The Cape Cross gelding should make a bold bid to go one better, but it’s not a particularly high standard that he sets and he is worth taking at one suspects will be relatively cramped odds.
Sir Michael Stoute’s La Concorde was sent off at 66-1 on her introduction at Newmarket and was well held; she looks more of a long-term project, a remark which also applies to Old Hundred. The latter’s trainer, James Fanshawe, fields a likely-looking newcomer in the shape of FUZZYPEG, a daughter of Derby winner Motivator and related five winners, including the former high-class middle-distance performer Border Arrow. She won’t need to be anything out of the ordinary to make a winning debut here.
Shubaat is another newcomer worth noting, while Baibars ran much better than odds of 100-1 suggested he might on his return at Newmarket where he finished fifth to Film Score, appearing to benefit from the application of blinkers. He has sound each-way claims.
