The most appealing race from a punting perspective on Wednesday is the Walters UK Ltd Handicap Chase at Ffos Las (2.45), and Kaybeew is likely to be popular following his victory at this track over a slightly shorter trip last month.
However, while he has to be respected, particularly with Nigel Twiston-Davies’ horses generally holding their form well, I have my doubts as to whether the six-year-old will be up to defying a 5lb rise in this Class 3 contest, while his overall profile is somewhat patchy.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s hardly exposed, especially over fences, as his victory here at the end of November was his chase debut. But his jumping will be tested to a greater extent this time than it was in that steadily-run, five-runner affair, and the horse he beat by a length on that occasion, Rate of Knots, doesn’t look altogether straightforward to me.
I suggest taking the likely favourite on with HORSHAM LAD who is 4-1 with bet365 at the time of writing.
The seven-year-old, winner of a novice hunters’ chase at Bangor in April 2010, has only raced twice in this sphere, and created a favourable impression on his handicap chase bow at Carlisle in October when landing a 15-strong handicap in decisive fashion.
Subsequently, the gelding was hampered by a faller and unseated rider at Newbury eight fences from home. He looked a real stayer at Carlisle and clearly relished the soft ground, which he will again get at Ffos Las on Wednesday. I’m pretty confident he will come out on top.
My Moment is nicely treated at present, but he’s not the most consistent nowadays, while Mohayer’s stamina has to be taken on trust, plus he’s up 6lb for his win at Market Rasen last time, so needs to pull out more here, even if he does see the trip out.
