Arjen Robben could start for Bayern Munich against Stuttgart at the Mercedes-Benz Arena

With the first five in the Bundesliga table separated by just two points, it’s shaping up to be a cracking title battle in the German top-flight, and Bayern Munich will be desperately seeking three points from their visit to the Mercedes-Benz Arena to face Stuttgart this afternoon, which they will need in order to remain at the summit of the table.

Jupp Heynckes’ men have been red-hot this season, but their defeat at the hands of last season’s title winners Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena on November 19 drew a bit of wind out of the Bavarians’ sails, and they were also turned over by Mainz at the end of last month.

However, despite those reverses FC Hollywood remain at the top of the table, and Bayern scored 11 times in two visits to Stuttgart last season, winning 6-3 and 5-3 in a league and cup meetings respectively with Die Schwaben at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

It may not be such a goal feast this time if key players such as Mario Gomez, Thomas Muller, Toni Kroos and Arjen Robben are not passed fit for this crucial fixture, but none of that quartet have actually been ruled out, and there is reportedly a good chance that Robben will be back in the mix this weekend.

In any case, the visitors boast enough strength in depth squad-wise to see off the likes of Stuttgart, and I reckon Die Roten will head back to Munich with three comfortable points in the satchel. Frenchman Franck Ribery has been in great form this season and my money is on the winger in the anytime goalscorer market at a tasty 2.88 with Boylesports.

Recommendation: Franck Ribery in the anytime goalscorer market
