A Long Walk in the Park for Bucks – A Prospect for the Ladbroke – Ascot Horse Racing Tips

Paul Nichols is expected to dominate the latter part of the day at Ascot with the favourites for both the Long Walk Hurdle and the closing race on the card, The Ladbroke.

Big Bucks is expected to go off the very short favourite for the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot. 1.30 is the best price available on Betfair for the race, recently rename after the now retired Lough Derg. Big Bucks in now unbeaten in 13 hurdle races after winning with ease at Newbury last month on his seasonal debut. He is on track to take a fourth World Hurdle title at Cheltenham in March and few would back against him making it 14 consecutive wins on Saturday.

Another Nichols runner on the day is Prospect Wells in the final race on the card at Ascot, The Ladbroke at 3.35. It is a listed handicap Hurdle and Ruby Walsh’s mount head the market at around 9/2. He is another who comes here after a wining seasonal bow at Newbury and will find a challenge from Seven Barrow trainer Nicky Henderson with his two entries. Both Gibb River and Rajdhani Express go for Nicky Henderson, preference being for the former who was a very close up third on debut at Sandown in a similar event. This is tougher, but improvement is expected.

Sandwiched between these two races there is a listed Handicap Chase in which David Pipe runs Massini’s Maguire after some 400+ days off the track. A winner on both his previous visits to the Surrey course, any market interest would add confidence to the pick

Recommendation: Watch Big Bucks, but Back Massini's Maguire and Prospect Wells
